Lebanese citizens can obtain an Indian e-Visa for tourism, business or medical visits. You must apply online at indianvisaonline.gov.in before departure. The e-Visa allows entry at designated airports and seaports. Check the official site for eligibility and current requirements before applying.

What the e-Visa means

The Indian e-Visa is an electronic travel authorisation linked to your passport. It covers short visits for tourism, business or medical treatment. You do not need to visit an Indian embassy or consulate. The entire application is online. Approval is sent by email as an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). Print this document and carry it with your passport.

The e-Visa is valid for entry at specific airports and seaports in India. It is not valid for land border crossings. Check the official site for the list of designated ports. The e-Visa is a single-entry or multiple-entry permit depending on the sub-category you choose. Always verify the conditions on the official site before you apply.

Before you travel and on arrival

Arriving in India's big cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai or Kolkata, you will find e-Visa counters clearly marked. The airport staff guide you. After clearing immigration, you collect your luggage and exit. If you have a connecting flight within India, follow the transfer signs. The e-Visa is valid for your entire stay in India.

Travelling between Indian cities is unrestricted with the e-Visa. You can take domestic flights, trains or buses. No additional permits are needed for most destinations. Some regions, such as parts of the Northeast or Andaman Islands, may require special permits. Check with the local authorities or the official tourism site before travelling to these areas.

Staying longer, working or studying

The e-Visa is for short stays only. If you plan to work, study or stay longer than the e-Visa allows, you need a different visa. Apply for a regular visa at the Indian embassy or consulate in Lebanon. The official site indianvisaonline.gov.in does not issue these visas. Contact the Indian mission in Beirut for guidance.

For medical treatment, the e-Medical Visa is available. It allows multiple entries for the treatment period. For business, the e-Business Visa covers meetings and conferences. For study or employment, you must apply for a student visa or employment visa through the embassy. Check the official site for the full list of visa categories and their requirements.

  2. Upload a recent passport-size photograph and a scanned copy of your passport bio page.
