Fijian passport holders can obtain an Indian e-Visa for tourism, business, or medical visits. You must apply online at indianvisaonline.gov.in before departure. The e-Visa allows entry at designated airports and seaports. Check the official site for the latest eligibility and conditions.

What the e-Visa Means

The Indian e-Visa is an electronic travel authorisation that lets Fijian citizens enter India for short stays. It covers tourism, casual business visits, and medical treatment. You do not need to visit an Indian embassy or consulate. The entire application is online, and the approved visa is sent to your email. Print a copy to carry with your passport.

The e-Visa is linked to your passport number. You must use the same passport when travelling. If you renew your passport after the visa is issued, the e-Visa becomes invalid. Check the official site for any updates to the e-Visa scheme for Fijian citizens.

Before You Travel and on Arrival

Apply for the e-Visa at least a few days before your flight. The official site is indianvisaonline.gov.in. You will need a digital photo and a scan of your passport data page. Pay the fee online. Once approved, you receive an electronic travel authorisation. Carry a printed copy.

On arrival at an Indian airport, proceed to the e-Visa counter. You will have your fingerprints and photograph taken. Immigration officers may ask for your return ticket and proof of accommodation. The e-Visa is stamped in your passport. Keep the stamped copy safe during your stay.

Arriving in India's Big Cities

The e-Visa is valid for entry at 28 designated airports and 5 major seaports. Major airports include Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Kochi. If you arrive at a non-designated port, you need a regular visa from an Indian mission. Check the official site for the current list of ports.

Once in India, you can travel between cities and states freely. The e-Visa does not restrict movement within the country. You must carry your passport and the e-Visa printout at all times. Some states require registration for foreign visitors staying long-term; check with your hotel or local authorities.

Staying Longer or Working

The e-Visa is for short stays only. For longer visits, study, or employment, you must apply for a regular visa at the Indian High Commission in Suva. Categories include student visa, employment visa, and entry visa. Each has different requirements and processing times.

Do not overstay your e-Visa. Overstaying can lead to fines, deportation, or a ban on future travel. If you need to extend your stay, apply for a visa extension at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in India. Check the official site for the latest rules on extensions.
