ArrivalAt an airport or seaport designated for e-Visa arrivals

Egyptian citizens can visit India using the e-Visa system. You apply online at indianvisaonline.gov.in before you travel. The e-Visa covers tourism, short business trips, and medical visits. You must arrive at one of the designated airports or seaports. Check the official site for current eligibility and conditions.

What the e-Visa means

The Indian e-Visa allows Egyptian citizens to enter India without visiting a visa office. You submit your application and documents online. If approved, you receive an electronic travel authorisation by email. Print this and carry it with your passport.

The e-Visa is for short stays for tourism, business, or medical treatment. It is not for employment or long-term study. You cannot extend it or convert it to another visa type while in India. Check the official site for the permitted length of stay.

Before you travel and on arrival

Apply at least a few days before your departure. You need a digital photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee online. Wait for the approval email before you travel. Do not book non-refundable tickets until you receive the authorisation.

On arrival, go to the e-Visa counter at the airport. You give your fingerprints and a photo is taken. Immigration officers may ask for your return ticket and proof of funds. Keep a printout of your e-Visa and your passport ready.

Arriving in India's big cities and travelling between them

Most international airports in major cities accept the e-Visa. These include Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Kochi. Some seaports also accept it. Check the official list on the e-Visa website before you book.

Once inside India, you can travel freely between states. There are no internal checks. Always carry your passport and e-Visa printout. Some hotels may ask to see these documents. Keep digital copies as a backup.

Staying longer, working or studying

The e-Visa is for short visits only. If you want to stay longer, work, or study in India, you need a different visa. Apply for a regular visa through the Indian embassy in Cairo. The e-Visa cannot be extended or changed.

For a business visa beyond the e-Visa scope, or for employment, a separate application is required. Student visas also need a paper application. Check the official site or contact the Indian embassy for the correct process.
